Hey Everyone! I know...I know... once again more than a week has rolled by without a blog entry from yours truly. This is the place where I am supposed to insert some deep reason why but unfortunately I don't really have one. Has life been busy...Yes...is that a reasonable excuse...No.
We have been keeping really really busy with our photo workshops and they are still filling up almost as fast as we find new dates. As of right now I believe that we have a little bit of room left in our Nikon workshop on the 16th of June and other than that they are all sold out. Our original plan was not to hold any more workshops until the Fall but I believe due to the demand we will be slating some for July and August.
This past Wednesday Rob and I headed back out to Buffalo Pound. Our hopes were to photograph some deer as the sun was setting but we are apparently both a wee bit suckish and as the sun started to set it started to get a bit cold with the breeze. We saw a few deer in the far hills but decided to call it a day. Of course as soon as we got into the car and started to drive away we actually had to stop about four times to let the deer cross literally right in front of the car...typical. As I told Rob when we were waiting for them...they were probably just behind us in the thousands laughing their collective asses off!
Total tick count from this trip. I believe Rob flicked about 6 or so off of his pants and I ended up with 0...whohoooo!!! My theory was very simple actually... I figured that I would wear shorts and no socks... this way if they ever did end up on me I would most likely see them very easily as well as possibly feel the little blood sucking vermin...yuck!
So I bet you are all sitting on the edge of your seats wondering what hidden meaning the title of this blog entry could have...well... wait no longer as I am about to tell you the not one but two critical pieces of information that I have learned from this weeks photo shoot. Number one... polyester attracts wood ticks and not to be outdone... number two... if someone moves their neck the wrong way thus pulling a muscle do not... I REPEAT... DO NOT try to offer any form of assistance in the way of suggesting a muscle relaxant ... ice pack... etc AND... DO NOT try to turn on any form of music or speak PERIOD for a period of at least one full hour from said injury!! I have since learned that this apparently tends to strain the already pulled muscle even more...who knew!!! (apparently laughing and making old man comments also don't help the situation but in actuality this I already knew but had to try anyway :) ).
For those of you looking for more clarification I will state exactly what I mean a little bit more clearly. Regarding the polyester comment... Rob was wearing what from first glance appeared to be a pair of brown polyester pants for our excursion to Buffalo Pound. He got a wee bit irritated with my comment and stated that not only were they NOT polyester but they were in fact a pair of $170.00 Tilley outdoor indestructible adventure series Mach I pants. My response... I call it like I see it which basically means that he paid a ridiculous amount for a pair of brown polyester pants ( there will be photos below so that you can all be the judge as I have been known to be wrong...once lol ). To go along with the statement of how much he paid for said pants Rob also made a statement about some young girls making some comment years back about the fact that they looked good on him to which my response was that I'm sure that there were also young women out there in the world that thought that men with no teeth were worthy of comments.... okay, enough about the pants :)
Regarding the second lesson learned. Rob apparently turned his head the wrong way while slamming the car door which caused it to become out of place or something. Believe me...I'm not a whiz when it comes to calculus but I am going to close this paragraph with this equation: ROB+SORE NECK = GROUCHY.
Alright... now I will quite rambling and actually post some photos as the last I checked that was the idea behind this. One of these days I am even going to post video on here as I did shoot some last week but Rob still swears too much as soon as he sees me with the video going and I don't feel like doing that much editing lol!!!
A photo workshop that we did for some students from Fort Qu'Appelle... Rob hates getting all of that attention :)
Yep... I may get killed but... this is a test shot from
Future Stars soccer
Okay...quit holding your breath...here's the pants everyone. What I forgot to mention was the belt additions which included pouches for a GPS, extra lenses and a swiss army knife I believe.
Okay... so I'm not exactly in peak physical condition... yet... and I can also make fun of myself as I am perfectly aware that I have "chicken legs"... I went with the camaflogue so as not to disturb the wood ticks lol...
Shot of a weed that Rob took... we were feeling like we were lacking things to shoot a bit... oh well... we tried to make the most of it :)
Rob checking for ticks. He found the first one crawling on his pants about 10 minutes into our excursion which then lead to us being able to walk about 5-10 feet before he would have to stop again :)

Okay...these are going to need a rather long explanation. This is me proving beyond a doubt that yes... I am capable of making fun of myself. Everyone knows that it is my job to keep up with the blog and thus that gives me free reign over what I want to say...what pictures I want to include etc. Rob has started to send me photos to post as it is only fair that seeing as how this is our blog...he should have some input as well. Well... lucky me to have him send the wonderfully horrific photo of myself at the top... I was doing one of my classic "Rob poses" but due to the fact that I was not flexing it basically looks like I have some wierd blob coming out of the side of my body... I posted the photo at the bottom not due to the fact that I love it any more but at least to try and prove that I have some semblance albeit small to a bicep muscle!! And for those of you who haven't figured this out yet... I'm not a big fan of photos of myslef... hence the fact that I am a photographer.
There... Devona has a sense of humor... moving on...
Rob's shot of the valley...
My shot of the valley...
Shot that I took of Rob... I may or may not have done a bit of work to it in Photoshop... kind of creeps me out actually...
Last shot of the day... as you can see by the look on his face Rob is getting a little bit frustrated with the fact that the only wildlife that we have seen at this point are a few specs of deer on the horizon, a beaver, some orioles and a few ducks...
Did you happen to notice that I didn't even make fun of the hat Rob???? Nope... not even a single reference to Crocodile Dundee or anything...yep, that's what good friends are for!!
Well everyone... I may add to the blog next week if I get a chance as we are planning on doing some more shooting this weekend. Other than that I am headed to sunny California in a week for a few weeks so I'm hoping to throw some pictures up of my travels when I am down there.
Have a good week... dust off your cameras and get out there!!
Okay... I honestly was going to end the blog there but then I thought... wouldn't it be really cool if you could all own a pair of polyester pants just like Rob?? That being said I went online to
Tilley's website and lo and behold there are the very same pair of pants!!! If you can believe this and no...I'm not even making this up... the pants are called "Different Drummer". That's gold lmao!!!
Adios!!
