Hi Everyone,
I know...look at me go 2 blog entires in one week! One would almost think that I like hearing myself type or something lol :) I bet that you all read the title of today's blog and thought to yourselves "Wow... not only does she have a fantastic personality and write extremely well but she runs marathons too..." Not so much... I did however help Rob shoot pictures of the marathon today which I must admit was extremely strenuous as my neck is now killing me! Okay Devona...no more complaining as some people if you can believe it actually ran the whole race today... what can I say...I'm a bit of a whiner (I know that right now Rob is probably rolling his eyes at that whole "bit" part).
We also had the help of Gil Segovia...aka "Fuji" today which was great as we managed to cover a lot of ground. Who knows, maybe next year I'll even run in the race... now that I think of it that probably won't be happening as I know for a fact that if indeed I did actually manage to finish the race I would most definitely be the one barfing at the end of it and then there would be a photo "thrown up" (get the pun?) on Facebook, our blog and probably a million other places. I'd better not risk it :)
What else has happened recently?? Well, I shot some family photos last Friday and other than that we have another photo workshop tomorrow night. With luck... if Rob busts his butt over the next couple of days getting all of the RPS marathon pics up then we will head out somewhere on Wednesday to do some more shooting. This time I am definitely wearing insect spray...a whole bottle of it... as there is no way that I am going to risk getting covered in ticks!!
Here are some photos from the fun but blustery day:
They ran so fast off the start line that I only managed to catch their backs!! No... that was a joke as there were 700 runners :)
A photo of the winner... I only managed to get a few as the other times he went by me all that I saw was a blur!! Yep... he's so fast that I think he was some kind of comic book hero in a previous life!
Ask me how much I admire this...at this point in the day this guy has already run most likely farther than I have in my life combined and he still managed to pose for the camera and look ecstatic about doing it!
I know what you're thinking... maybe.... this guy ran the entire race with all of his gear on (they said that it added an extra 40lbs)... yep...tough guy.
Now in my opinion...this is the way to participate in a race lol!!
He was flying... here is a perfect example of a 60ish year old living in a 40 yr olds body... actually make that 20 now that I think about it...
I was waiting at this water station for a big chunk of the race just hoping that I would be able to catch one person pouring water over their head... this gentleman happened to be the only one that I saw... guess the cold and wind was just too much for some.
Look look... it's Mayor Pat!!! I bet that none of you knew when you signed up for this blog that there would be famous people on here... well, besides Rob anyway (I just realized this second that it had been far too long since I had taken a shot at him).
I just loved this shot at the finish line.
I think that the guy in the Jack FM truck got pulled over for playing his music too loud! No... this shot just makes it appear as though he got pulled over. It is the RPS (Regina Police Service) half marathon which means that basically no matter where you park chances are there will be a police car within 20 feet of you.
Footprints on Rob's back... he forgot to move out of the way at the start line and experienced the joy of being trampled. Okay...I'm only kidding... I believe that he decided to have a nap on the pavement while waiting for the racers to come across the finish line.
Rob and Gil... I think that I am one of the world's most sarcastic people and even I can't think of what to say about this...
What blog would be complete without yet another shot of Rob's beloved wheels.... he told me this would be a good time to shoot them as he washed it last night and used his special wheel cleaner. Now that I think about it I'm rather surprised that he didn't call me last night the second he had them clean to come and shoot them then as I'm sure that there must have been some dust that has settled between now and then :)
And...crossing the finish line in just under 3 hours...pushing it all the way to the end... Mr. Robert Weitzel...and the crowd goes crazy...rah rah!!!
The end.
Have a great week....watch out for ticks.
