04/16/08: Here we are again...another week gone by and another week closer to the warmer weather. I'm going to share a secret with everyone... I am one of those rare summer people. That is the time when I come alive... I instantly become more pleasant (kind of the same effect that the new tires on Rob's car had with him). Who knows what's going to happen, maybe I won't even take all those jabs at Rob's expense on the blog anymore! No...that's not going to happen now that I think about it as that just brings me far too much joy to stop now :)
This week we had a week off from our workshops so instead of teaching one on Monday night we finalized the curriculum for our PhotoShop class. Other than that we are shooting some family portraits on Friday night and then Rob is shooting a marathon on Sunday. We are also ready to hold our first photo field trip which is going to be on Saturday the 10th of May from 1:30-6:30 at the Fieldstone Inn. If you are wanting to attend just get ahold of Rob or myself and we can fill you in on all of the details.
You're probably thinking that I'm off my nut titling this blog entry as "Wood Tick Season"... not so much. Apparently when Rob got home from our photo excursion today he had not one but two of the blood sucking little bastards on him... sorry... that's almost a swear but I tend to do that when I am very passionate about what I'm speaking of. Needless to say as soon as I heard this I had a mild heart attack and even though I found none I am still having those "phantom" feelings of ticks crawling on me...yuck!! Speaking of ticks that brings me to another phobia of mine... grasshoppers. Yep... I admit it, I would rather be caught with a snake/mouse/bee/wasp...well, pretty much any other thing in my car than to be stuck with a grasshopper! I'm slowly getting a little bit better as due to the fact that I live in Saskatchewan and consider myself to be somewhat of a landscape photographer I have realized that there is just no way to get around running into about a zillion of these alien looking little beasts! Laugh at my phobia if you will...it could be worse... someone that I know won't even walk into a room if there is a balloon in it!
I was going to try to keep to keep this on the short side due to the fact that even though I had a wonderful little 3 hour power nap this afternoon I am still really tired as we left the city this morning at 4:45 A.M to head out West shooting... yes...for those of you who just glossed over that last little bit I said LEFT the city at 4:45 A.M...that doesn't mean woke up at that time...ugh. Can't wait until sunrise is at around 5:00ish and I can look forward to waking up at 3:00ish.
Well.... enough of my rambling. Here are some photos that Rob and I took today in and around the Buffalo Pound area along with my witty and insightful comments :)
Pic that Rob took of the Stony Beach elevator.
A shot of mine...same elevator...different angle.

Now...what blog entry would be complete without a shot of Rob's tires. There is a story here though... the top picture is of Rob reflecting (or trying to control his temper perhaps?) after he drove right over a huge rock in the middle of the road hence leading him to believe that he may have actually wrecked one of his beloved tires...believe me, had this actually happened then this would most likely have been the end of this weeks blog for a variety of reasons but the main one being that he would have probably hurled himself into the above body of water!!
I know this photo is rather busy but this scene reminded me of something out of some creepy dream or something...
Rob's pic of the same area... much more scenic!
This was actually pretty comical and I see that Rob is picking up on my style of humor in that he is now getting enjoyment from others pain. If you can believe it I wedged myself in between the branches of this fallen tree and seriously had a very hard time getting myself out of it but I guess when the options are to pry your way out or fall into about 4 feet of freezing cold water with your camera you manage to find the strength somewhere!

Who knew that Rob was a gymnast!!! After multiple attempts to climb an entire foot onto this log which was a whole 3 feet up in the air he finds "the zone". For those of you who are questioning what "the zone" is exactly well... it's probably Rob's most photographed pose of all time!!
Some more pics that Rob took at the marsh.
This was a photo that I took of the beaver/muskrat water slide. It was very cool and had about a total of 4ft of elevation which I would believe would give those little guys one heck of a ride :) Unfortunately due to the mud and freezing water Rob wouldn't try it out which is really too bad as that would have made for one Hell of a blog photo!
Taking a break. For those of you wondering about my "look of reflection" I believe it was because Rob was either talking about: a)the tires and wheels on his car or... b) New forks for his mountain bike (sorry...from here on in to be referred to as an "urban bike" ).... anywho... both of these topics tend to put me in a bit of a trance and make my eyes kind of gloss over so I have found that by putting my hand under my chin and tilting my head a little bit it gives him the impression that I am in fact listening attentively even though I believe in my mind at that point I was wondering how much memory I should be taking along with me on my upcoming trip... too funny!
"Oops I did it again"....
Some pics that I took as we meandered our way back to the city.
Never underestimate the necessity of a GPS...or at least for Rob anyway as I believe in this photo he is checking it only to find that his camera back is indeed located in the trunk of his car which is at the rear of the vehicle ... hee hee.
I know... I'm actually posting a picture of myself where I look like a complete dork...with NO makeup...what is this world coming to! Ah well, if you can't make fun of yourself then who can you make fun of right?? Oh, right...Rob :)
Well, that's it for now everyone. Have a fantastic week!
