Field Trip Dates:
We accept only 10 registrations per field trip. Registrations are accepted on a first-come first-served basis.
Please note that participants in our Field Trips are to own and be familiar with a DSLR (if not already completed one of our Intro To Digital Photography Workshops) as well as a tripod. For NightScapes a tripod is a must-have and for both CityScapes and NightScapes a cable release or infrared remote is highly recommended. An extra battery is also of value for cold weather shoots. Field trip duration typically 2.5 to 3 hours. Within a week or two of each field trip, we congregate for a review session at which time images can be shared with the group or one-on-one (or two) with Devona and myself. A great opportunity to ask further questions.

Sports Photography "for" Sports Enthusiasts - The Sessions
So, you are one of the thousands of hockey moms and soccer dads that recently bought a new camera. You bought it with hopes of capturing magazine quality images of your children just like the pros do. As a matter of fact, the employee of some big-box store told you to "Buy the digital SLR, or this advanced point-and-shot camera if you want to get good sports photos." "The money you spend now you will save by not paying for pictures of your kids over the next twelve years." they said. Herein lies the problem. You now own the camera but of the 2,366 pictures you have taken, not one of them looks quite like the ones you see inside the magazines or on the web sites.
If the above paragraph sounds familiar, or, you would just like to learn more about sports photography, read on. I would like to help.
Everyday I get asked the same questions. "How do you do it?" "Why don't my pictures look like that?" "What kind of camera is that and is it better than mine?" "Why is the ice in all my hockey shots grey?" "Why do all my pictures look like snapshots?" "What settings are you using?" I used to ignore these questions, or come up with some useless answer, mostly out of fear that I would somehow lose business or that, if I answered, you would then know "my secrets". Not anymore, I can not possibly handle all of the demand for sports images and you have bought that camera, you should know how to use it!
If you are one of the people asking the above questions, or would like to but haven't, if you live in southern Saskatchewan and would like to learn more about sports photography, I am willing to answer your questions. I will let you in on some of the "secrets" of photography that can be applied in both sports and other photography areas.
If you have an Digital SLR camera, consider registering for one of our "Introduction to Digital Photography Courses". After completing that, if you wish to learn more specifically about sports photography, $249.00 plus GST will get you three hours of one-on-one sports specific training. Call Rob @ 535-5997 to register.
